Nice glass — Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro

Well, I did some looking around on the Nikonians forums and I found decent praise for this lens: the Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 APO DG Macro.
While a Nikkor 28-200mm VR “all around” lens would be wonderful, I can’t yet justify a $750 expense. That’s almost double what I spent on the D50 camera body. If I’m to take more sports / dancing shots, I think this will be a quite useful lens. Now if only I could afford a faster lens… eh, well, that’s for later. Hopefully just as good photography can come from this.
What I’m really hoping to do with this is get back into photography the way I did back in high school. I used a Canon AE-1 with a Vivitar 70-210mm f4.5-5.something lens to get some interesting football photos. It was a lot of fun. Time to get that feeling back, I hope.
